Myrtle E Wesson

Myrtle E. Wesson passed away Monday, July 19, 2010. Myrtle was born July 10, 1915 to the late Bob and Lizzie Goacher near Carlisle. She had been a resident of Carlisle and Lonoke all of her life. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter Hauk in 1967, brother, Joe Bob Goacher; sister, Caribell Bettis; nephew, Willie Dan Bettis and her second husband, Luther Wesson. Myrtle was a homemaker who enjoyed keeping her home, sharing her baked goods with friends and neighbors. Myrtle served as a Sunday School teacher for the Methodist church in both the Hamilton and Concord communities and most recently was a member of the Carlisle First United Methodist Church. She volunteered at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock for 32 years. She was also a loyal volunteer for Red Cross and the annual Cancer drive. She was a Worthy Matron of Order of Eastern Star, Oracle of Royal Neighbors. She was instrumental in organizing the AARP chapter in Lonoke. In later years, Myrtle married Luther Wesson of Lonoke a school mate from the Hamilton community. Survivors are: sister-in-law, Evelyn Goacher; three nieces, Sis (Truman) Warren, Chloe (Joe) Cunningham and Ann (Billy) Lenderman; five great-nephews, Brian & Kevin Lenderman, Joey Warren, Wally Cunningham, and Kevin Bettis; four great-nieces, DJ Duckworth, Kathy Blanchard, Heather Valenzuela and Jo'el Robbins. Visitation Friday, July the 23rd from 6-8 p.m. at Boyd Funeral Home in Lonoke, Ark. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 24th at 3:30 p.m., First Methodist Church, 3rd and Tate, Carlisle, Ark.
