Charles Marie Bishop Gunther, 69, was born August 10, 1940, in Wilton, Arkansas, to the late Clemmie Newton Bishop and Allison Bishop, Sr. She was the youngest of seven children. "Babe" or "Bishop" as she was affectionately called, died peacefully at God's house on Tuesday, July 20, 2010. Three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. Upon graduation in 1958 from Little River Training High School, Ashdown, Arkansas, Babe received a basketball scholarship to Arkansas Baptist College in Little Rock where she excelled athletically and academically. She later moved to Kansas City, Missouri. Babe married Paul E. Gunther, Jr., who also preceded her in death. At the time of her death, she was living a carefree life surrounded by loving family and friends. Babe leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Linda Porter Jones (Elijah Jr.); brother, Allison Bishop Jr. (Josefa); grandchildren, Elijah III (Marilyn), MéChelle, Lynntia, Kelon, Elijah, and Messiah Jones; special friends, Shawna Pitcher and Michael Lee of Las Vegas, Nev.; nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, August 1, 2010 at Pleasant Hill CME Church, College Station, Ark., 2:30 p.m.
