Juanita Nicholson

Mrs. Juanita Nicholson, age 88, of Natalia, Texas, died Saturday, June 26, 2010. She was born at home near Tillar Ark. on April 10, 1922, the daughter of the late Samuel O. Abston and Verdie Aycock Abston. She was a retired schoolteacher who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics and a minor in Science at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1943. She moved to Natalia in 2003, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Devine. She was preceded in death by her husband Willie W. Nicholson of Fort Worth, Texas, her brother, James W. Abston of Monticello Ark., her great-grandson, James P. Nicholson and great-granddaughter, Emmaline G. Nicholson. Survivors include her son William A. Nicholson and wife Linda of Natalia, Texas, daughter, Camille Breeden and husband Larry of Van Buren, Ark., four sisters, Maxine Bucans of Etna, Wyo., Jean Sterne of Colleyville, Texas, Marilou Douglas of Tillar, Ark. and Martha Culhane of Tucson, Ariz., six grandchildren, Amber Delaney of Helotes, Texas, Stephanie Rofkahr of Van Buren, Ark., Rebekah Jank of Adkins, Texas, Joshua Nicholson of Natalia, Texas, Daniel Breeden of Van Buren, Ark., Jeffrey Breeden of Birmingham, Ala. and 11 great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 30 at the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel, 303 College Avenue, Devine, Texas 78016. Interment and graveside service will be held at Newton Chapel Cemetery, Jefferson Township, Desha County Ark., Griffin Funeral Home, 109 South Brasfield Street, Dumas, Ark. 71639, directing. Memorial gifts may be made to First Baptist Church, 308 W Hondo, Devine, Texas 78016 or Odyssey HealthCare, Hospice Program, 4415 Piedras Drive West, Suite 100, San Antonio, Texas 78228. Texas arrangements are under the direction of Hurley Funeral Home, 303 W.
