James Edward Eaton, 79, of East End passed away Saturday November 6, 2010. He was born March 17, 1931 in Lonoke, Ark. to the late Joseph Vernon Arnold Eaton and Bertha Pearl Mitchell Eaton. His loving wife, Hazel Virginia Eaton also precedes him in death as well as three brothers; Wendell, Delbert and Clifford Eaton and one sister, Oretha Yeatman. James proudly served his country in the Navy during the Korean War and later retired from the Naval Reserves. He also retired from AMF and General Motors where he was a tool and dye specialist. He was a member of the Iron Springs Masonic Lodge #342, a member of East End Baptist Church and will be remembered as a true craftsman who loved creating things with his hands. Survivors include his three daughters; Sandra Lowrey and husband, Steve of Graceville, Fla., Carrie Wortman and husband, Carlton Jr. of El Paso, Ark. and Tammie Smith and husband Jonathan of El Dorado, Ark., brother, Vernon Eaton and wife Mary of Benton, Ark., sister, Dorlene Altman and husband Al of Little Rock, Ark., grandchildren; Ian, Amanda, Dustin, Brad, Chad, Joseph and Hanna and one great-grandchild, Aiden. The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of Beebe Retirement Center for all of the special kindness shown to their family. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice. Visitation will be 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth Funeral Home, 5800 W. 12th St., Little Rock. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, November 10th at East End Baptist Church with Rev. Jess Wheatley officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery.
