Harry Popish, age 86, of New Edinburg, Ark. died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born Nov. 30, 1923 in Brooklyn, N.Y., a son of the late Nathan Popish and Rizka Meschel Popish. He received his education in the New York City Public School System and Brooklyn College of New York. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II serving in Battery B 187 F. A. Battalion in the campaigns of Anzio, Casino, Northern France, Rhineland, Rome and Arne. Mr. Popish was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, the European, African and Middle Eastern Service Medal and the Medal of Good Conduct. He was a retired stone and marble importer and a member of the Jewish faith. Surviving is his wife Matilda McFaddin Wynne whom he married on March 1, 2008 in Warren, Ark.; a son Victor Popish, Tampa, Fla.; a brother, Abe Popish and spouse Helene, Riverdale, N.Y.; two stepsons French Wynne, Jr. and spouse Judy, Warren, Arkansas and Edward McFaddin Wynne and spouse Susan, Easley, South Carolina; two step-daughters Matilda Buchanan and Marianne Ligon and spouse Stark all of Little Rock, Ark; three nephews Harvey Popish and spouse Lydia and Robert Popish and spouse Marion all of Boynton Beach, Fla. and Richard Last and spouse Linda, Plano, Texas; eight step-great-grandchildren and seven step-great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, at Shady Grove Cemetery near New Edinburg by Frazer's Funeral Home of Warren.
