Ora Martha Huff Haney

Ora Martha Huff Haney, 89, of Vestavia Hills, Ala., passed away Oct. 27, 2010. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, who will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Marlon F. Haney and daughter, Ora Ann Haney. Music has always been a large part of her life. During her high school days and several years following, she sang as soloist at a large church in Little Rock, Ark. She was soloist with the popular Tommy Scott Orchestra and sang with a young ladies trio who had a regularly scheduled radio program. The group also sang for the USO. She later had a weekly radio program of religious music. During WWII, she sang with the 110th Medical Bank of the U.S. Army 35th Division. She has made recordings and served as soloist in several large churches in Little Rock, Ark., Dallas, Texas, and Atlanta, Ga. Mrs. Haney is survived by her daughter Cherry H. Fishburne; grandson, Samuel Thomas Fishburne (Christina); great-grandchildren, Malcolm Edward Fishburne, Bella Lucia Fishburne; one sister, Lorraine as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010 at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 1, 2010 at Pine Crest Memorial Park.
