Elva Oleta Hale

Elva Oleta Hale, age 90, of Sherwood formerly of Belleville died Monday, September 20, 2010 at Sherwood nursing and rehabilitation center. She was born January 22, 1920 on Chickalah Mountain to the late Leonard and Euna Stafford Robinson. She was a member of the Upper Spring Creek Freewill Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband Elmer Holmes and by her husband Loy Hale, two sons, John Hale and Phillip "Randy" Hale, two daughters Sharon Holmes and Hazel Dennis. She is survived by one daughter, Sheila Holmes of Sherwood, three sons, Allan Holmes and wife Shirley, Milas Hale and wife Chirl all of Sherwood and David Hale and wife Sue of Louisiana, two brothers, Calvin Robinson and wife Barbara of Florida and Donald Robinson and wife Jackie of Nebraska, one sister, Donna Butler of Delaware and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 24, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the Upper Spring Creek Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Rocky Shelton officiating. Burial will be in Mountain Springs Cemetery on top of Chickalah Mountain. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the church. Pallbearers will be Marlon Holmes, Phillip Hale, Joe Knight, Harlon Patton and Edward David. Arrangements are by Cornwell Funeral Home Danville.
