Margaret Geneva Martin Gattis, age 93 of Conway, Ark. passed away Thursday, April 14, 2011 in Conway Regional Hospital. She was born July 6, 1917 in Booneville, Ark. Margaret is the last survivor of the Martin family. She was married at First Baptist Church in Ratcliff, Ark. on July 6, 1935 to Noble Wallace Gattis from Riverside, Calif. Margaret is preceded in death by sisters Juanita Barnes, Robbie Newcomer, Reba and Ruby Martin; brothers Claude, Roy, Jessie and Curtis Martin and granddaughter Lori Gattis Garber. She is survived by sons Wally Gattis of Fort Smith, Noel Gattis of Little Rock and Steve (Beverly) Gattis of Rogers; granddaughters Vickie Gattis Bailey of Conway, Kellie Gattis of Rogers, Leslie Blacklock of Little Rock; grandsons Mike (Tann) and Kevin (Melissa) Gattis, Curtis Gattis of Little Rock, Randy Gattis (Renn) of Little Rock, Shawn Gattis (Tammy) of Pasco, Wash. She had 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters. She lived most of her life in Barling, Ark. She and Noble raised their family in Coles Chapel and belonged to Coles Chapel Methodist Church. Her hobbies were sewing, quilting and visiting the "old people" at the Methodist nursing home. She lived a long and productive life and loved the adventure of travel. The last few years she looked forward to seeing the Lord. Her favorite Bible verse was Psalms 23. She is a member of Otter Creek First Baptist Church in Little Rock. Margaret read her Bible every day and tried to live by the morals her parents taught her as a young child. She tried to always tell the truth and never steal. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 18, at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston.
