Mary Leota Harwood, 82, of Texarkana, Ark., passed away April 11, 2011. Mrs. Harwood was born Feb. 26, 1929 in Nashville, Ark. She was a former member of Rose Hill Church of Christ. Mary attended Magnolia A&M and graduated from Henderson University. She taught and was principal at Ben Lomand, Ark., went on to teach at Glen Rose-Malburn, Gillham, Kildare, and retired from College Hill Junior High where she taught home economics and family living. Mary was preceded by her parents, James and Lillie Gentry; brother, Bruce Ferrell Gentry; sister, Juanita Gentry Goff; and niece, Julia Ann Goff Nash. Survivors include her husband, Norman J. Harwood; daughter and ex-son-in-law, Janis DeMuth of Texarkana, Texas and Roger C. DeMuth of Madisonville, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Leigh Ann Harwood of Melbourne, Fla.; daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Bob Morgan of Maumelle, Ark.; and five grandchildren, Kristy DeMuth, Shelby DeMuth, Justin Harwood, William Harwood, and Matt Morgan. Memorial service was held April 16 at East Funeral Home in Texarkana. Memorials may be made to Heritage Hospice of Texarkana or Texarkana Humane Society.
