Ann Talbot Brandon Womack, 76, of Raleigh, North Carolina died on April 23, 2011 after a courageous 4 1/2 year battle with primary peritoneal cancer. Ann was born on April 27, 1934 in Fordyce, Ark. She graduated from University of Central Arkansas with a BS in Chemistry and Physics in 1955 and did graduate work at the University of Arkansas. She is preceded in death by her parents, William Henry and Mary Ruth Talbot Brandon and infant sister, Betty Sue Brandon. Ann is survived by her husband of 56 years, Farris W. Womack; a daughter, Linda Womack Stone and her husband, Greg; two grandsons, Blake C. and Colby R. Stone of Raleigh, N.C., a sister, Sara Brandon Cathey and brother-in-law, O.D. Cathey of Fordyce, AR, three nieces, Lisa Cathey Mathis, Sue Cathey Jones, and Christy Cathey Panza, their husbands and children, a dear first cousin, Mary Ruth Dedman Abbott, her husband and children, along with a number of cousins, great-nieces, and nephews. Ann lived her life with dignity and grace and was genuinely kind to everyone. She touched many people in dramatically different ways. Throughout her life, Ann was involved in numerous organizations and charities, including various leadership roles in the Methodist Church and in Faculty Women's Clubs. She was named Arkadelphia's Outstanding Young Woman in 1968. She loved to travel the world with her husband, but also liked to spend time with her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her two grandsons who brought her great joy. Ann will be missed by all who knew and loved her. The family wishes to thank all of her friends and neighbors who visited, emailed, and called regularly, and who provided meals and support over the past several years. In addition, the family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Mark Yoffe and the staff from Cancer Centers of North Carolina for their care and genuine concern over the last 4 1/2 years and to the nurses and staff of 7 West, Rex Healthcare and the Hospice Home of Wake County for their care and support during this time. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce, Ark. with Rev. Douglas Byrd and Rev. Hammett Evans officiating. Burial in Chambersville Cemetery, Chambersville, Ark..
