Auby Rowe Jr.

Auby Rowe Jr., 91 of Magnolia, Arkansas passed away on Friday, April 22, 2011 at the Bailey Creek Health and Rehab in Texarkana, Arkansas. He was born on June 2, 1919 in Magnolia, Arkansas to the late Auby Rowe, Sr. and Ruth Linton Rowe. He was a veteran in the United States Army serving during World War II where he was promoted to the rank of Captain in the infantry and fought battles at the Battle of the Bulge and the Bridge of Remagen. He was a retired self employed petroleum land man and a member of First United Methodist Church. He lived in Billings, Montana for 11 years and returned to Magnolia and served on numerous civic and community projects and was a past president of the Chamber of Commerce. Auby was elected to the State House of Representatives and served from 1970 to 1976. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Billye Gibson Rowe, a son, Timothy Allen Rowe, a daughter, Barbara Ann Rowe, three brothers, Harold, W.C. and Travis Rowe, and two sisters, Myrtle Miller Franks and Hazel Luck. Auby is survived by a son, Auby Rowe, III and wife Beverly of Texarkana, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Tyler A. Rowe and wife Camile of Mesquite, Texas, Debbie Stanford and husband Al of Flower Mound, Texas, Chris Glasscock of Georgetown, Texas, Auby Rowe IV, and wife Brenda of Round Rock, Texas; and seven great-granddaughters. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Kelso officiating. Visitation with the family will begin at 1 p.m. until service time at the First United Methodist Church Parlor.
