David James Leath, 49, of Maumelle, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2011. David was born September 19, 1962 in Dallas, TX. David was a loyal husband, brother, father, son and friend to all. He attended UALR where he received his Bachelor's in Management Information Systems. He was with Hawker Beechcraft in Little Rock for 20 years. David was a very innovative and creative person who loved learning new things. He could do, fix or make anything he set his mind to. Whether he was helping to repair a friend's car, building a boat trailer or brewing his own beer his energy and enthusiasm was contagious. He recently combined his love of sailing and traveling into a sailing charter trip in the British Virgin Islands. He enjoyed playing golf and regularly played in the Hawker Beechcraft golf league. He and some fellow golfers entered and won a golf tournament at Falcon Jet, Hawker's across-the-runway, long-time business competitor and sports rival! David had a passion for soccer, not only as a player and spectator but also as a referee. He was a member of several referee associations and most recently the President of the Arkansas Chapter of National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association. David helped so many people and touched so many lives and will continue to do so through his very thoughtful and generous gift of organ donation. "To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die" David is survived by his wife of 8 years, Gayla; two sons, Joey and Jonathan; two sisters, Sharon and Shelly; mother and father-in-law, Phyllis and Russell Pickett; along with several aunts, uncles, a niece, nephews, cousins and brothers-in-law. David is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Norma Leath. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Friday, December 16, 2011 at Griffin Leggett-Forest Hills, 10200 Highway 5 North, Alexander, Ark.
