Dr. James William "Bill" Vorhease, age 60, passed away Feb. 1, 2011. Dr. Vorhease was born Jan. 3, 1951 in Crossett, Ark. He was the son of Jessie James and Elizabeth Irene Vorhease. Dr. Vorhease graduated from Crossett High School. He attended College of Charleston, Charleston, S.C. and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He served his Residency at Eglin AFB and later transferred to Little Rock AFB. He was Honorably Discharged from the Air Force in 1987. Dr. Vorhease served the community of Ashdown, Ark. for over 20 years and later serving the community of Idabel at both the Choctaw Indian Nation Clinic and Kiamichi Medical Clinic in Idabel, Okla. Dr. Vorhease lived a good life. He worked hard to serve the community as a Family Physician. He loved mostly genealogy, history, the ocean, classic cars, horse racing, and his exotic animal ranch. He was a member of the Texarkana Masonic Lodge 3341, Ashdown Masonic Lodge #531, Shriners, Jesters, Scottish Rite, SAR, founder of a CAR in Texarkana, SCV, and above all else, James treasured his relationship with Jesus, his family and his friends. He was preceded in death by both his parents and sister Deana Ann Vorhease. He is survived by his wife, Teresa; his daughters, Nicole and husband, David Cox, Danyel Vorhease and Vanessa Vorhease of Conway; his brothers, George Vorhease and wife, Amanda and Carl Vorhease and wife, Debbie. As well as three nephews, Mark and Scott Skinner of Georgia, and Michael Vorhease of Crossett, Ark.; and one niece, Bambi and husband, Dutch McGehee of Texarkana; as well as many beloved friends and patients. Funeral arrangements have been made to Madden Funeral Home in Ashdown, Ark. Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 4th from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will then be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with a small family burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shriners Hospital in his honor.
