ALVA COLLINS BETHUNE, 69, of Little Rock, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011. He was born April 12, 1941, in Little Rock to the late George Washington and Dorothy Bethune. A U.S. Army veteran, Collins served in the Korean War and was a life-time member of VFW Post 9095. He was a brick mason for over 25 years. Survivors include daughter, Angie Huckaby of Maumelle; sons, Steve Shewbuirt of Bryant, Collins "PeeWee" Bethune of Mayflower and Joe Bethune of Conway; sisters, Janet Hulsey of Victoria, Texas, Dorothy Geneva Rice of Conway, Wanda Nordrum of Lonoke and Patsy Trice of Jacksonville; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson and many nieces and nephews. Services will be Monday, Feb. 7 at 2 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), Little Rock, followed by interment with military honors at Forest Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, (501)224-2200.
