Billy Joe "BJ" Brickey Sr.

Billy Joe "BJ" Brickey Sr., 74, of Redfield, passed away Saturday, February 5, 2011 and received his final orders to guard the gates of heaven. He was born September 4, 1936 in Cow Lake, Arkansas (Jackson County) to the late Torie L. and Eva Hoosier Brickey. He was a mechanic at the Pine Bluff Arsenal. BJ was a United States Marine Corp Vietnam Veteran serving with India Company 3rd Battalion 5th Marine Regiment where he was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart among his numerous other awards. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 343 Redfield, a life time member of the DAV and a member of the NRA. He was loved and respected by his family and the community as he will be truly missed by all. One can rest assured their loved ones are now safer in Heaven as BJ joins Gods elite guard detail, Semper FI, Gunny. He is survived by his wife, Jean Clark Brickey, whom he married February 3, 1958; sons, Bill Jr., of Jonesboro, Garry of Paragould, Danny, Steve, Tim all of Redfield; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four brothers; three sisters; and his three yorkie puppies. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock with Tim Law and Steve Brickey officiating. Funeral arrangements are by Cranford Funeral Home of White Hall. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at the funeral home. The family will be at 705 Schoolwood Cove in Redfield.
