Mildred Notley Smith, 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Feb. 7, 2011 following a lengthy illness. She was born and raised in Dallas, graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School, where she met and later married her husband of 65 years, Charles Edwin Smith. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and precious friend, known to many as the ‘Bread Lady'. In 1960, the Lord led them into the ministry. As the founders of Tapes for Christ and CAM Audio, they distributed the recorded Word to pastors, churches and missionaries world wide. Retirement took them to Rogers, Ark. for 28 years, before returning home to Texas. In spite of health issues, they were blessed to remain in their McKinney home, thanks to wonderful caregivers, Betty Cobb and Dorothy Williams and hospice aide, Arpage Green. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, George and Dorothy (Cason) Notley and her sister, Gerry Notley. She is survived by her husband, Charles; sister, Pat Notley of Garland; daughter, Carole (Bob) Neubrand of Dallas; son, Bill (Jeanne) Smith of Rowlett; three grandchildren, Sheryl Winberry and son, Chaz; Daniel (Julie) Smith and daughters, Kaitlyn and Kylie, Katherine Smith and daughter, Faith; and her cat, Rain. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Feb. 26 at Charles W. Smith Funeral Home, 601 S. Tennessee, McKinney, Texas 75069, visitation following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Roanoke Food Pantry, 108 Pecan Street, Roanoke Texas 76262.
