Lester Leighton Blann

Lester Leighton Blann, 85, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, died Monday, February 14, 2011, at Trinity Medical Center in Pine Bluff. He was born December 28, 1925, in Jersey, Arkansas, to Tillman Brawner and Hazel Adams Blann. Mr. Blann was reared and educated in Lake Village. He served in the United States Army during World War II in both the Asiatic and Pacific Theaters of Operation. He started to work in 1942 for the Cotton Belt Railroad. After his service in the war, he returned to the railroad where he retired in 1976 from the Communications Department. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church for over 50 years and later moved to First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jack Blann. Survivors include his wife, Frances Blann, whom he married on October 15, 1951, in Pine Bluff and a brother, Byron Blann of Sherwood. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at Graceland Cemetery with Reverend Jeff Steed officiating.
