MARGARET ANN DICKIE, 96, of Jacksonville passed away on Friday, Feb. 18, 2011. Mrs. Dickie was born on Oct. 19, 1914 in Loop City, Neb. She was preceded in death by her husband, L.M. (Dave) Dickie; her son Joe Bill Dickie and her son-in-law Danny Dunn. Her survivors include one daughter, Mary Beth Dunn; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Dickie was a member of First Baptist Church in Jacksonville since 1952 and served as church secretary there for ten years and church organist for over twenty years. Mrs. Dickie will be remembered as a gracious Christian lady that devoted her life to God, family and others first and herself last. Many young people's lives were touched through her service as they passed through her Sunday School department, Vacation Bible School, Junior Choir and piano instruction. She was well known for her presentation of "chalk talks" to illustrate stories, painting annual baptistery Christmas scenes for FBC and drawing the covers for the church bulletins each week. Mrs. Dickie was an accomplished artist and taught porcelain painting for many years in her home studio. There she taught many ladies, some that thought they had no artistic ability, to paint beautiful pieces of heirlooms for their enjoyment. An article about her expertise was published in "The China Decorator" magazine in the 90's. Mrs. Dickie spent her last years in the Spring Creek Rehabilitation Center in Cabot, where she experienced love from the caring staff and brought joy to those around her. Odyssey Hospice provided compassionate loving care for her in her last days, for this the family expresses appreciation. The family wishes to express appreciation to all those that cared for her so graciously. Mrs. Dickie will be missed by her family and all those she touched during her 96 years. The visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21, 2011 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Jacksonville with Reverend Cliff Hutchins officiating. Interment will follow at Arkansas Memorial Gardens.
