VonCille Davis Callahan

VonCille Davis Callahan, 75, passed peacefully from this life Feb. 15, 2011, at Inpatient Hospice Care, Bowman Road in Little Rock. She was born March 4, 1935, in Dallas County to LuCille Hudson Davis Pinkston and Clarence Davis, the third of five children. Mom devoted her life to nursing and caring for other people, including her late husband and mother. She graduated LPN school from Red River Technical College in 1981 "back when Nurses were starched" and retired from Fort Roots VA in North Little Rock in 1998. Mom loved "ol folks" and worked in several Senior Centers in the Little Rock, Stuttgart, Fordyce, Arkadelphia and Sparkman. She celebrated 25+ years in a 12-step recovery program. She was an avid reader and loved to fish and camp. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A special thank-you to the Odyssey Health Care Group for their comfort, love and support. She was preceded in death by her mother, loving husband; and friend, Johnnie Callahan; sister, Odie Geryl (Tootsie) Walters; and great-grandson, Johnnie David Wood. Survivors include brothers, Kenneth Davis (Glenda) of Crocker, Mo., Bruce Davis (LaHonda) of Coweta, Okla., and sister, Rose Marie Pallette of Bryant. Children, Roy Hale of Sparkman, Charles Hale of Forrest City and Linda Scott-Boswell (John) of Gurdon; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and very special nieces and nephews. In thinking of others, Mother donated her body for medical research. Graveside services for family to be announced at a later date.
