Mildred Hackney Ellis

Mildred "Tess" Hackney Ellis, 90, of LaHabra, Calif., formerly of Monticello, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011 at her home. She was born Aug. 14, 1920 in Monticello. She retired after 34 years as an inspector for Continental Can Company and was of the Protestant faith. She was the daughter of the late John Hackney and Inez Johnson Hackney and was preceded in death by two brothers, Terrell Hackney and Eugene Hackney; three sisters, Maurice Miller, Bonnie Thurman and Mary Whitehead. Survivors include one son, Donald Gene Barrett of LaHabra, Calif.; one daughter, L. Ann Shockey of LaHabra, Calif.; one grandson, Brett Eugene Shockey of LaHabra, Calif.; one great-daughter, Robyn Nicole Shockey of LaHabra, Calif.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 22, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Lacey Cemetery.
