Susan H. Marshall

Susan Henderson Marshall, formerly of Jonesboro, died at her home in Little Rock on February 17, 2011. She was 59. Susie, as she was known to her family, was graduated from Jonesboro High School with the class of 1969. She attended Blue Mountain College in Mississippi and Arkansas State University, majoring in business. She worked in banking in Jonesboro, Dallas, and Little Rock for almost thirty years. She started as a teller at Mercantile Bank in Jonesboro while she was in college and ended as a branch manager and senior loan office for First Commercial Bank in Little Rock. She left banking to run her own business, a Curves fitness center at Otter Creek in southwest Little Rock. Susie loved people, animals of all kinds, cooking, and working in her yard. For some years she was active in her Capitol View neighborhood association. Her greatest joys came from helping other people and being with her many pets, such as Peter Rabbit and her dogs Cindy, Kodiak, and Spot. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Mari Ann and D.P. Marshall. She is survived by her brother, D.P. Marshall Jr., her sister-in-law, Polly, and her nieces, Adison and Lara Harden, all of Jonesboro. She is also survived by three of our four beloved Harden cousins, Melanee, Bill, and George from Nesbit, Mississippi. Cousin David Harden passed away several years ago. There will be a memorial service at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro on Sunday, February 27th at 2 p.m. The family asks those wishing to honor Susie to consider the Humane Society of Pulaski County, www.warmhearts.org, 14600 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock, Arkansas 72201.
