Elma Vidella Allen Brooks, 91, of England, Arkansas went to be with the Lord, Jesus Christ on Thursday, February 24, 2011. She was born September 4, 1919 in Clear Lake, Arkansas to Zatches and Rosie Allen. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Thelma Allen Randolph, two brothers, Lewis Allen and Zatches Allen, a daughter, Dr. Juanita Brooks Coats and a granddaughter, Tiffany Brooks Thurston. At a young tender age of 18, Elma was married to David Brooks Jr. Eleven children were born to that union. She is survived by ten children, five girls and five boys: Louis Calvin Brooks, Lois Jean Collins, Ella Wee Morton, Arthur Lee Brooks, Wayne Edward Brooks (Theresa), Dwight Ellis Brooks (Ethel) Patricia Ann Bryant, Darlene Ingram (Earnest), Donald Ray Brooks (Diane), Arbradella Smith (David) and a very large host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She confessed Christ at an early age and joined Macedonia Church and Clearlake, Arkansas. After marriage, she transferred her membership to First Baptist Church in Allport, Arkansas, no named Allport Community fellowship Church where she actively severed in the ministry for many years. Elma received her Sewing diploma from Kellwood Company and was a private and commercial seamstress. After retirement, she became a full-time caregiver for her husband. She loved her family and was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved animals of all kinds. Gardening, working in her yard and cooking were her passion. Elma loved children and influenced many lives throughout the years. She was an active member of the parent teacher association and served as president during her membership. She was referred to as "Mother Brooks" in her community and her church. She was deeply loved by her family and friends. Visitation will be at Wilson Funeral home, 701 Pine Bluff Hwy., England, Arkansas, on February 27, 2011 from 6-7:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Allport Community Fellowship Church, 122 Allen Street, England, Arkansas, on Monday February 28, 2011 at 11 a.m., officiated by pastor Lacey Sims.
