Joyce Ann Williams, age 78, of Flint, died Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at her residence surrounded by her family. Funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2011 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 6273 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, Pastor Aaron Whitman officiating. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church. Visitation 3-8 p.m., Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Joyce will be at the church 12:30 p.m., Friday until the time of the service. Joyce was born in Flint on June 18, 1933, to Gladys and Irvle Dearing. Joyce was a registered nurse, graduating in 1956 from Arkansas Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. Her interests were her family, Bible study, gardening, being a professional nurse and ministering to others. She worked at Hurley Medical Center for 37 years. Joyce authored one book "In My Own Words" in 2007. Surviving are children, Lana and husband Kevin Bentley, Leta and husband Michael Luurtsema and Becky Lynn Williams; grandchildren, Jim and wife Libby Bentley, Tom Bentley, Jana, Aaron and Jason Luurtsema; brothers, Dennis Dearing and Jeff and wife Louise Dearing; sisters, Betty and husband Adren Rider, Sue Banasiak; sister-in-law, Billie Dearing; many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
