Basil Bud Wooton, 85, of Hartford, Ark., died Sunday, July 17, 2011 in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a businessman, cattleman, and horseman. Basil was a Master and 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Western Arkansas Scottish Rite Bodies, the Scimitar Temple in Little Rock and the Shrine Temple. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and World War II, and served with the National Guard at Camp Robinson and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 1, Fort Smith, Ark. Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, July 21 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood, Ark., with burial at Hartford Memorial Park. Viewing will be 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Survivors include two daughters, Tonya Putnum of Sparland, IL, and Dawn Whitten of Hartford, Ark.; one son, Ronald Rick Wooton; one sister, Modena Pruss of North Little Rock; one brother, Don D. Wooten of Hot Springs, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Richie Sinks, Brent Evans, Cory Bumpers, Conner Bumpers, Tommy Norman, and Ronnie Mills.
