Gary L. Hammonds

Gary L. Hammonds, age 62 of Mabelvale, Arkansas died suddenly Monday, July 25, 2011 at his home. He was born on September 26, 1948 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late W. D. and Bernice Hammonds. Gary attended Little Rock Central High School where he was an outstanding Athlete in Track, was retired from Lucent Technologies and was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Little Rock. He is survived by his daughter, Tonya Highcock (Darrel); one granddaughter, Amanda Hartfield (Tommy) and one great-granddaughter, Kylie Anne; one brother, Ken D. Hammonds (Sheila); three nephews, Patrick, Derek and Scott Hammonds; one niece Laura Hammonds and his longtime companion and best friend, Emelie Deese and her children and grandchildren who he loved as his own. He is preceded in death by his brother, Jerry W. Hammonds. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, 6219 Baseline Road, Little Rock, AR (501) 565-9198 with Father Mark Wood as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
