Guy H. Edwards, 83, of Fort Smith, Ark. died Wednesday, March 9, 2011. He was born to the late Guy Wasson and Clema Margaret Edwards, Nov. 24, 1927, in Evening Shade, Ark. He served in The United State Air Force during WWII and The Korean Conflict. He is predeceased by two sisters, Nina and Billie Ruth, and by one infant granddaughter, Chosen Brunck. Guy graduated from Leachville High School and attended Arkansas State College and Hendrix College, where he focused on English Literature. Throughout his life; he remained passionate about literature and art, with a particular interest in Asian culture. He will be remembered for his gentle nature, his quiet dignity, and his unrelenting love of family. Guy is survived by his wife Nadine, who cared for him lovingly and attentively in his final months as well as throughout their 64 years of marriage. He is also survived by three children, Claudia Isbell and husband Bob, Beth Houston and husband Gary, all of Little Rock and Amber Brunck and husband Philip of Fort Smith. He will be fondly remembered by six grandchildren: Lee Martin (Mike), Mary Adkins (Jack), Guy Bell, Eric Bell, Andrew Brunck and Hannah Brunck and six grandchildren, as well as his sister, Fannie Macchia, of Jackson, Mich. A painter, poet and writer, Guy was an avid supporter of education and the arts. "You can never learn too much when you are young," he wrote, "because when you get older and begin to forget you can still end your days with a good store." To honor Guy's lifetime of learning, the family requests that all memorial contributions be made to Hendrix College in support of the Odyssey Endowment.
