Nellie Irene Biggs Pearson

Nellie Irene Biggs Pearson, 88, was a resident of Baton Rouge Louisiana. She died Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at her home. Irene was born on January 28, 1923 in McGehee, Arkansas to George and Helen Biggs. She was married for 57 years to John Collins Pearson of Lake Providence, Louisiana. She was a teacher and lifelong proponent of education completing her undergraduate degree at Arkansas Teacher's College, her Master's in Education at Vanderbilt University's Peabody College, and a Masters Plus Thirty at LSU. She is survived by two sons, Mark Pearson and his wife Gerianne, and Matthew Pearson and his wife Glynda, grandchildren: Matthew Pearson Jr., STGSN., Michelle Pearson, Ashton Pearson, William Pearson, Catherine Pearson and Amanda Pearson, Siblings: Maryann Denniston, Ruth Boyd, Martha Houston, Sarah Merritt, Carolyn Casteel, Gloria Tyler, and Nathan Biggs. She was preceded in death by her husband John Collins Pearson, her son Phillip Oliver Pearson, and her parents George and Helen Biggs. Visitation will be held at Griffin Funeral Chapel McGehee, Arkansas on Saturday, March 26, 2011 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Funeral Services will immediately follow.
