Ruth S. Vickers

Ruth S. Vickers, 92 of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away Monday, March 28, 2011. She was born in Pittsburg, Texas to the late John A. and Emma Finlayson Skipper. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George H. Vickers; five brothers and four sisters. Ruth was a member of First Baptist Church in Shreveport, La. and taught Sunday School at Highland Baptist Church for a number of years. She was also a member of the Sewing Circle in Shreveport. Ruth was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend she will be missed by all that knew her. She is survived by two sons, George M. Vickers and wife, Margaret Ann of North Little Rock and Paul Kenneth Vickers of El Dorado, Ark.; five grandchildren, Jeffrey O. Vickers and wife, Trina, Elizabeth Supine and husband, Tony, Jason H. Vickers and wife, Jennifer, Michelle Clary and husband, Joel, and Michael Vickers and wife, Haley; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, on Marshall Street in Shreveport, La. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside will follow at 2 p.m., in Concord Cemetery in Omaha, Texas. The family wishes to thank Hospice Home Care in Little Rock, Dr. David Liu and staff at St.Vincent, Mrs. Lou Scott of Shreveport and Becky Batey of North Little Rock for the loving care they gave Ruth.
