Maxine Simmons, 86, of Little Rock, went to be with our Lord on November 9, 2011. She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Lawrence Funk and Sue Caroline Funk. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all. She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Simmons. She is survived by a daughter, Jan Meyer and husband Daryl; a son, Phillip Simmons and wife Kathy, all of Mabelvale. She has four grandchildren: Julie Kemp (Jason), Laura Meyer of Mabelvale, Lisa Chesser (Scott) of Spring, Texas, Jerry Bennett of Little Rock; and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters: Jean McClendon, Marilyn Moore (Ferrell) of Little Rock and Katherine Barlow of North Little Rock. She was a faithful member of Mabelvale United Methodist Church where she had served as a Sunday school teacher. Maxine's family would like to thank all of her friends, neighbors and everyone at Saline Hospice for their love and support during her illness. Friends are a gift from God. A visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, November 13 at Mabelvale United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be on Monday, November 14 at 11 a.m. at Mabelvale United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Marble and Brother Rick Porter officiating. Burial will be at Pinecrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saline Memorial Hospice, 23157 Hwy. I-30. Bryant, Arkansas 72022 or Mabelvale United Methodist Church, 10500 Woodman. Mabelvale, Arkansas 72103.
