Noble M. Hoy Sr.

Noble M. Hoy Sr., 96, of White Hall, died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011. Mr. Hoy was a native of Ashley County; a resident of White Hall for the past eight years and a former resident of Pine Bluff, Hamburg and Parkdale for 60 years. He graduated from Parkdale High School in 1937. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served for two years in Europe during the Normandy Invasion in World War II. He was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for over 44 years, a retired farmer and he was a member of the Parkdale United Methodist Church. He was an avid Razorback Basketball and Football fan. He loved watching heavy weight boxing and following the National Football League and College Football. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Rhetta J. Hoy Sivils; his parents, Thomas Andrew and Annie Ellen Goodwin Hoy. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Vivian L. Akridge Hoy of White Hall; a son, Noble M. Hoy Jr., and wife, Cindy, of Pine Bluff; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Gunter and husband, Jim Thompson, of Charleston, South Carolina; three grandsons, Zackery Hoy Sivils of Charleston, S.C., Nicholas Hoy of Benton and Brandon Rushing of Pine Bluff. Graveside funeral services and burial are 2 p.m., Sunday in the Parkdale Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Arkansas, 10411 W.
