Emma Madoline McMaster Grier

Emma Madoline McMaster Grier, born Aug. 24, 1917, in Okolona, Ark., the only child of Jess A. and Emma McMaster. She died on Sept. 30, 2011, in Farmerville, La., at the age of 94 years. Madoline, a retired grocery clerk and housewife, was an active and faithful member of Farmerville United Methodist Church for over 60 years, serving in many capacities including the Ruth SS Class and Susannah Circle of United Methodist Women. Madoline loved her Lord, her family, and Lady Techster Basketball. Funeral services for Emma Madoline Grier will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at 10 a.m. at the Farmerville United Methodist Church with Revs. Truman Stagg and Bill Stokes officiating. Burial will follow at Dobyville Cemetery near Okolona, Ark., at 3 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home. Mrs. Grier was predeceased by her husband, Jim W. Grier, and his siblings, Manie Sue Horn, Phoebe Grier and Bill Grier. She is survived by her four children, Linda Barron and husband, Dwain; Peggy Jane Anderson and husband, Bob; Jimmy Grier and wife, Joyce and Bobby Grier and wife, Toni all of Farmerville; nine grandchildren, Chris Barron and wife, Misty of Kingwood, Texas, Carey Anderson and wife, Holly of Farmerville, Alex Grier and wife, Ashley of Willis, Texas, Marcus Grier of Farmerville, Patrick Anderson and wife, Melody of Bernice, Kylie Jones and husband, Ben, Kassidy Bennett and husband, James, Kelci Rodgers and husband, Trey all of Farmerville, and Jesse Grier of Monroe; 17 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; many cousins and other relatives and friends. She will also be remembered and missed by many extra grandchildren who all loved her and knew her as "Grandmama." Her family expresses appreciation to the nurses and CNA's and other staff at Arbor Lake for their loving and compassionate care given to their mother for the past two years and also to her caregivers, Kennon Ebarb, Ty Jackson, Laurie Andrews, and Angela. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Chris Barron, Carey Anderson, Alex Grier, Marcus Grier, Patrick Anderson, and Jesse Grier. Visitation will be 5 - 8 p.m. Monday at Farrar Funeral Home.
