Mildred L. Champlin-Dickerson

Mildred L. Champlin/Dickerson, age 92, of Conway, AR, went to her Heavenly Home on October 17, 2011. She was born December 29, 1918, in Austin, Arkansas to the late James Adney and Blanche Hayes Skinner Champlin. She attended school in Ward, AR, and graduated Valedictorian of her class in 1936. On July 4, 1939, she married James E. Dickerson, Jr., who preceded her in death April 7, 1982. They moved from Cabot to Stuttgart in 1947 where she lived until 1996. She retired from Riceland Foods Soybean Plant of Stuttgart in 1983. Mildred loved to read her Bible and for many years taught Sunday School classes, GAs and YWAs at North Maple Baptist Church and Southside Baptist Church in Stuttgart. She later led Bible Study classes in Cabot while attending Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She also loved working in her flower beds and gardening. One of her favorite things to do was to take her friends on a drive through Arkansas to see the Fall Foliage. Mildred moved to Conway in 2004 and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Survivors are her son, Leonard H. Dickerson (Regina) of Bossier City, La. and her daughter, Judy Parker (Jim) of Conway, Ark., granddaughter, Barbara Dickerson Lindstrom (Todd), Pittston, Maine, and two great-grandchildren, and a special sister-in-law, Mary Champlin. Preceding her in death were three brothers, C.W. Champlin, Auburn, Calif.; James Orville Champlin, Cabot, Ark.; Julius Champlin, Infant. The family would like to thank Arkansas Hospice for their excellent care and a special thanks to Brittany Abraham, CNA, and to all of the caring staff at St. Andrews Place in Conway. Service will be held at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Conway on Thursday October 20, 2011 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Tom Edwards officiating. Graveside Services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, October 20, 2011, with Bro. Greg Greenway Officiating. Burial will be at Lone Tree Cemetery in Stuttgart, Ark. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., on Wednesday, October 19, 2011.
