Mitchell Clifton

William Mitchell Clifton, 87, of Malvern, passed away at his home on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011. He was born to the late Joe H. and Eula Tucker Clifton on Jan. 20, 1924. He was retired from Reynolds Metal Company and was a member of Third Baptist Church. Mitchell loved working outside and especially liked to work in his garden. He enjoyed making walking canes, and he was always happy to share them with his family and friends. He loved being with his family and especially liked to visit with all of his grandchildren. He married Estelle Sherron on Oct. 1, 1945. They had 59 happy years together until her death on Dec. 18, 2004. He is survived by four loving daughters: Ann (Bill) Golding, Sue (Randy) Burks, Barbara Hall, Mary Beth (Richard) Roseberry. Ten grandchildren: Lori (Joel) Newman, Amy (Rob) Purdy, Jamey Golding, Tracy (Shawn) Studdard, Jeff (Kelly) Burks, Kristi (Brian) Golden, Michael (Heather) Hall, Mark (Jessica) Hall, Brandon (Cheyanne) Roseberry, and Justin (Hollie) Roseberry. Fifteen great-grandchildren: Hannah and Haylee Newman; Nick Purdy; Allison, Rachel, and Lily Studdard; Tyler and Carson Burks; Drew and Lauren Golden; Charlie and Oliver Hall; Case Roseberry; and Isabella and Brady Roseberry. He is also survived by two sisters, Mary Dawson and Frances Wingo, and sister-in-law Judy Miller. Mitchell was able to live at home until his death due to the loving assistance of his caregiver, Burta Nutt Baker. Visitation will be Sunday at Regency Funeral Home from 3 - 5 p.m. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24, at Third Baptist Church. Burial will be at Rockport Cemetery.
