ROSE MARIE (HOOKER) CRAVENS, 87, of Little Rock, passed away Oct. 21, 2011. Born July 28, 1924, in Little Rock, to the late Alvia S. and Marie Hooker of Mabelvale. She graduated from Little Rock High School in 1942 and married her loving husband Meredith Cravens on April 30, 1943. Following her husband's return from World War II, they began their life of service with the United Methodist Church where Meredith served as director of education and music. During those years Rose Marie, a devoted wife and mother, was active in church choirs, taught Sunday school, Bible school, served as United Methodist Women President, and circle leaders at various churches throughout Texas. She and Meredith returned to Little Rock in 1974, where he served at Oak Forest UMC and St. James UMC in Little Rock, until his death in 1992. Rose Marie was a lifetime member of the Mabelvale United Methodist Church where she served as UMW President and chair of her circle. Preceded in death by her husband Meredith Cravens and sister Jean Marie Hooker. She is survived by her brother Alvia S. (Sonny) Hooker (wife Peggy), of North Little Rock. Daughters, Deborah Jean Connors (husband Tom), of Austin, Texas, Catherine Ann Fincham, of Chardin, Ohio, Nadine Elizabeth Morris (husband Russell), of Little Rock. Grandchildren, Amy Klima, of Austin, Texas, Chris Fincham (wife Mary), of Columbia, S.C., Laurie Richards (husband Raymond), of Richmond, Texas, Brenda Sturmer (husband David), of Ann Arbor, Mich., and eight great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Teresa Simons for her loving care over the past year and Arkansas Baptist Hospice for their support during the past few weeks. Memorials may be made to Mabelvale United Methodist Church, 10500 Woodman Street, Mabelvale, Ark., 72103. Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011, at the Mabelvale United Methodist Church with Pastor Bob Marvell officiating. Interment to follow at Martin Cemetery.
