H.R. Johnson of Damascus, died on October 25, 2011 at the age of 93. He lived an exemplary life as a hard working, commonplace, God loving, family man, Christian, Army veteran, worker, teacher, farmer, father, grandfather, brother, and husband are titles that describe him. He was a master mechanic for Chrysler Corporation in Memphis, the Auto Mechanics instructor at Foothills Vo-Tech in Searcy, AR and a member of Greenbrier United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Thomas and Nettie Rowe Johnson and numerous other loving family members, and he is survived by his wife of 69 years, Avanelle; a son, Jack, a daughter, Jo; a brother, Robert, and two sisters, Reba Shelby and Marvelle Davis, and a grandson, Jeffrey. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday October 27, 2011 at Greenbrier United Methodist Church, with Rev. Kevin Lyon officiating. Burial will follow at Lloyd Cemetery in Damascus. Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Day, David Johnson, Fred Zimmerman, Tommy Hartwick, Sammy Hartwick, and David Latimer. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the C.B. Hartwick Sunday School Class. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Greenbrier (501) 679-2575.
