Floyd H. Masterson, age 70, of Gibson City died at 4:57 p.m., Friday, Sept. 9, 2011 at the Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. Family and friends will gather at the Pinelog Cemetery in Brookland, Ark. at 1 p.m. with the graveside service beginning at 2 p.m. with full military rites. Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City is in charge of arrangements. Floyd was born Sept. 5, 1941 in Brookland, Ark. a son of W.C. "Bud" and Lona R. Ball Masterson. He married Gloria Garner on August 1, 1959 in Jonesboro, Ark. She survives in Gibson City. Also surviving are two sons: Anthony S. Masterson of Rantoul and Sean W. (Leslie) Masterson of Pekin, two granddaughters Emily Ellen and Jillian Elizabeth Wei Masterson both of Pekin, his mother, Lona Davis, father W.C. "Bud" Masterson, and brother, Wayne Masterson all of Jonesboro, Ark., two sisters-in-law, Carroll Whiteside Garner of York, S.C., and Wanda Garner Brown of Jacksonville, Ark., a special friend of 55 years, J.R. Albert of Jonesboro, several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and many cousins. Floyd graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1960. He served in the US Army from 1962-1968 with tours in Korea and Vietnam. Floyd suffered with cancer for 9 1/2 years due to contact with agent orange while serving his country in Vietnam. Floyd loved fishing, hunting, reading and being with his precious granddaughters. One of his great pleasures was listening to his son preach the Word of God. He loved spending winters in Golf Shores, Ala. with his wife. He was a life time member of the V.F.W. and also a member of the American Legion and served on the board of directors of the McMilllan Master Credit Union for several years.. He retired from Solae in Gibson City. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
