Sammie Keith Boyd, 70, of Sheridan, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2011. He was born July 14, 1941 in Paris, Arkansas and was the son of the late Calmar Alton Boyd and Wilba Edmondson Boyd, also of Paris. He served in the Army National Guard leading to a career in purchasing for several manufacturing companies, with the last 20 years spent self-employed with a lawn and church cleaning service. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Sheridan and enjoyed singing in the church choir. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Alton Boyd. He is survived by his wife, Harriette Hoskyn Boyd of Sheridan and his two daughters, Melissa Brooks Staley and husband Tim of Hensley and Lesli Lynn Ward and husband Steven of Sheridan; A brother, Edward Boyd and wife Shirley of Paris; Sister-in-law, Barbara Boyd of Fayetteville; his grandchildren, Jacob Tyler Staley, Brittney Nicole Staley, Blake Andrew Ward, Evan Boyd Ward and Logan Mitchell Ward and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2011 at First United Methodist Church in Sheridan with Rev. John Fleming officiating. The Committal service will take place at 11:30 a.m. also on Friday at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Sheridan. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 p.m.until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
