William "Bill" Kernan Pryor

William Kernan Pryor, 77, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012. He was born July 24, 1934 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas the son of Thomas Brady & Dorothy (Harris) Pryor. Bill was a graduate of Ft. Smith High School and later the University of Arkansas. Mr. Pryor was employed by Monarch Cement Company, retiring in 1996. He was also an owner of Fly Ash Management and Ash Grove Resources. Bill was very active in the Kansas Ready Mix Assoc., the Kansas Masonry Industries Council, the Kansas Prestressed Concrete Assoc., SCABA Baseball League, and Boy Scouts Troop 7. Bill married Mary Jane Taylor on, June 8, 1956, she survives. Other survivors include two sons, Billy Pryor and Brady (Debra) Pryor; four grandchildren, Emily Pryor, Dylan Pryor, Hannah Wheat, and Lauren Pryor; four siblings, Thomas (Lorna) Pryor, Susan Tindall, James (Kay) Pryor, and Jane Pryor; a cousin, Carolyn Ross; and Toni Kalem. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Dorothy Pryor; and his step-mother Eva "Mema" Pryor. Memorial Services will be at 1 p.m., Friday, April 20, 2012, at the Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd., Topeka, Kan. 66610.
