JAMES CARROLL GEARY, of North Little Rock, passed away on April 19, 2012. He was born on Aug. 23, 1938 to his mother, Juanita Anderson Geary and his father, James Luther Geary in North Little Rock, Ark., where he lived most of his life. He graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1956. He married Patricia Ann Edmonson on Aug. 28, 1959 and they began their life as a family. Together they had five children and seven grandchildren. Many activities were enjoyed by him and his family through the years. James was a member of several square dance clubs, including the Wilder Bunch. He enjoyed attending activities of his children, from ball games to skating competitions. James was a hardworking man who retired from Union Pacific Railroad as a machinist after 35 years of service. He also volunteered much of his time to work with the Boy Scouts of America, the Girl Scouts of America, Modern Woodmen of America, 4-H as well as many schools and churches. He was a joke-loving man who was often seen laughing and teasing his children and grandchildren, among others and was always ready with a good story. In his later years he loved to read, spend time with his family, and play with his dogs, Pixie, Topaz, GiGi and Sadie who will miss him. James was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Patricia Ann Geary; his parents; a son, Daniel Daman Geary; a brother, Ronald Glen Geary and his grandparents, Murrell Roland and Maude Henry Anderson. He is survived by his daughter, Connie Claire Geary of North Little Rock; son, James Craig Geary and his wife, Shannon Linn Geary of Little Rock; daughter, Ronni Linn Geary of North Little Rock; daughter, Shelly Lyn Gough and her husband, Howard Edwin Gough of North Little Rock; grandson, James Chase Geary of Denton, Texas and his girlfriend, Lindsey Sonnamaker; granddaughter, Jamie Elizabeth Geary of Little Rock; grandson, Buster Erick Geary and wife, Amanda Lynn Geary of Springdale; grandson, Aaron Carroll Geary of North Little Rock; grandson, Trey Austin Geary of Little Rock; grandson, Jeremy Cole Fulmer of North Little Rock and his fiancee, Brittany Lynn May; grandson, Jeffery Gage Fulmer of North Little Rock; great-grandson, Daxton James Geary of Springdale; sister, Mary Louise Williams of North Little Rock; brother, Hollis Lynn Geary of Hanahan, South Carolina; and sister, Debra Cheffy of Hanahan. Services will be held on Tuesday, April 24 at 10 a.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), officiated by Rev. Larry Ballard. The graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. at Wolf Cemetery in Oppelo. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, (501)224-2200.
