Marion Dewey Poole, 66, of Cabot, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012. He was born June 28, 1945 in Newport, to the late Marion and Ethel Mae Young Poole. Mr. Poole served in the United States Air Force as a small arms instructor before becoming an air traffic controller. During his tenure with the USAF, he received a Commendation Medal, an Achievement Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. After his retirement from the Air Force, he continued working and later retired from the FAA at Little Rock National Airport. Mr. Poole enjoyed horses, shooting sports and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed motorcycles and flying and was a licensed pilot. In addition to his parents, Mr. Poole was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Gann and a grandson, Greg Iosbaker. Mr. Poole is survived by his wife, Edie Thompson Poole; his children, Kim Hodges of Searcy, Pam Iosbaker of Anchorage, Alaska, Kay Bodan and Shane Phillips Sr., both of Cabot. Also surviving him are his four grandchildren, Nichole Payne, Stephen Atwell, Shane Phillips II and Fischer Hodges; one great granddaughter, Emma Payne and one brother, Howard Poole of Russell. A time of visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2012 followed by a memorial service beginning at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Moore's Cabot Funeral Home (501)843-5816.
