Daniel Charles Rogers

Daniel Charles Rogers, Sr., 62 of Hot Springs Village died Monday, April 23, 2012 at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock. He was born June 5, 1949 in Arkadelphia to Mary and Billy C. Rogers. He was a retired Secret Service Special Agent, a 1967 graduate of Monticello High and 1971 graduate of Henderson State University. Following college, Danny served in the U.S. Coast Guard. In 1976 he entered the Secret Service. In 1980 he was assigned to the Washington Field Office and served the Vice Presidential Protective Detail from 1983-1985. In 1985 he transferred back to the Little Rock office until his retirement in 2002. Danny was a very dedicated Special Agent and was diligent about his work. During his career, he received many performance, service and Special Act awards. He was preceded in death by his wife Shelia, his parents and one brother Jimmy Rogers. Danny is survived by two sons, Daniel Rogers Jr. of Little Rock and Matthew Rogers of Monticello; one brother, Joe Rogers of Monticello; three sisters, Nancy Malone and husband Randy of Fort Smith, Pat McKinney of McKinney, Texas and Kathleen Hale and husband Billy of Bryant; three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Friday at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 1016 North Hyatt Street, Monticello with burial to follow in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Thursday at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 295 Balearic Rd., Hot Springs Village, Ark. 71909.
