MayDelle McMurtrey

MayDelle McMurtrey (Nee Hancock), age 84, of Rison, left this world on Tuesday, April 24, 2012. She was born November 11, 1927 in Gary, Texas. An avid gardener, MayDelle enjoyed all kinds of flowers and served with the Rison Garden Club 14 years. She volunteered with Greenwood Cemetery Association over 10 years and served as Committeeman for the Democrat Committee for many years. MayDelle was a homemaker and attended Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Tom McMurtrey and son, Billy Joe McMurtrey. She is survived by a son, Bobby Dan McMurtrey and his wife Shelly and one grandson, Justin. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, April 27, 2012 at Buie Funeral Home with Reverend Travis George officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Buie Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Roy Phillips, Don Terry, Ronnie Word, Jim McDonald, Chuck Smith and John David Rogers.
