Roy Lee Looper, 92, of Searcy, died Monday, April 23, 2012 at his home in River Oaks Village in Searcy, Arkansas. Born November 18, 1919, in Clarksville, Arkansas, he was the son of Arce and Allie (Martin) Looper. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Dorothy White Looper; sister, Mozelle Gray; niece, Sandra Gray; and late wife, Lucille Smith Looper, whom he married in 1984. Mr. Looper is survived by his step-children, Larry Smith and wife Theresa and Rebecca Kersh of Searcy; granddaughters, Leisa Key and husband John of Searcy and Bridget Hawkins and husband Shawn of Little Rock; great-granddaughter, Kendall Key of Bentonville; great-grandsons, Gavin and Davis Hawkins of Little Rock. My Looper served in the United States Army during WWII, then re-enlisted in the Air Force, retiring in 1971 at the rank of Staff Sergeant. Mr. Looper was a member of the First Baptist Church, the DAV, and VFW. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and aids of Hospice Home Care for their compassionate care, and the wonderful and excellent caregivers, Bea Abney, Wanda Bryant, Brenda Pasley, and Pierre Billiot, who made it possible for Mr. Looper to spend his last days at home. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Powell Funeral Home. Interment will be private at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 28th at 2:30 p.m. at River Oaks Village Chapel, with reception to follow.
