Willie M. "Billie" Akers, 92, of Mayflower, Arkansas, went to be with her Lord Wednesday, August 29, 2012. Mrs. Akers was born on Friday, October 9, 1919 in Washington County, Oklahoma, to the late Biddie and William Ehl. She retired, in 1984, after working 22 years, for the Arkansas Soil Conservation Service in Conway. Mrs. Akers volunteered at Conway Regional Hospital for 10 years, and served as the State Chaplin of the women's auxiliary for the DAV. Being a minister's wife, she was a dedicated member of several Southern Baptist Churches in central Arkansas where her husband was the pastor. Mrs. Akers was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Troy A. Akers; and two sons, David Lee Akers and Troy A. Akers II. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Carla Siganos of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas and Lynda Ellenburg of Lincoln, Arkansas; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Friday, August 31, 2012 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 3 p.m., Saturday, September 1, 2012 in the chapel of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Conway (501) 327-7727. Interment will follow in the Mayflower Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Paul Nichol, Adam Keathley, Mike Rohrer, Alan Steele, Lonnie Ellenburg and Jim Siganos. Honorary pallbearers will be Chuck deSambourg, Mark Beene and L.J. Ellenburg.
