Opal Gressett Terrell

Opal Gressett Terrell, 94, of Dayton died peacefully Jan. 30, 2012. She was born in Aspermont, Texas, to Lester and Gertie (Arp) Gressett on Feb. 21, 1917. At 9 years old, she came to Arkansas in a covered wagon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Terrell; son, C.L. Terrell; two brothers, R.L. and Ruble Gressett; and one sister, Gladys Brasher. In 1935, she married Grover, the love of her life, and they spent 68 years together. Survivors include one daughter, Lillie Looper of Dayton; three sisters, Nita Newland of Fort Smith, Isabel Wolfe of Missouri and Frances Fletcher of California; six grandchildren, Mitch Looper and wife Lisa of Hackett, Kevin Looper and wife Karen of Shady Point, Corey Looper of Dayton, Brenda Looper of North Little Rock, and Teresa Pipes and Tim Terrell of Texas; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Dayton Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
