Jerry Amos Pulliam

Jerry Amos Pulliam, age 70, of Lewisville, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at a local hospital. Mr. Pulliam was born July 14, 1941, in Pocahontas, Arkansas. He was a graduate of Biggers-Reyno High School, Arkansas State University, and Emory University of Atlanta, Ga. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. Mr. Pulliam served the United Methodist Church of Arkansas for 42 years as a pastor in Van Buren, Kibler, Jacksonville, Greenbrier, Springdale, Fort Smith, Black Rock, Lynn, Powhatan, Alma, Mountain View, Tuckerman, Swifton, Blytheville, Lewisville, Buckner, Taylor, and Stamps. He was a dedicated member of the Lion's Club since 1986, having served clubs in Alma, Newport, Blytheville, Texarkana, and Lewisville. He held numerous positions including Zone Chairman, Region Chair, Vice District Governor, District Governor, and Council Chair of the Board of Governor's. Mr. Pulliam was on the Board of Trustees for the Mid-South Sight and Hearing Services in Memphis, Tenn., and was serving as the 3rd Vice-President. He was recently awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. Mr. Pulliam was preceded in death by his father, Amos R. Pulliam; one brother and two sisters. Mr. Pulliam is survived by his wife, Peggy Pulliam of Lewisville, Ark.; his mother, Marguerite Pulliam of Jonesboro, Ark.; a son, Mark Pulliam and wife, Crystal of Alma, Ark.; three daughters, Sarah Carroll and husband, James of Dallas, Texas; Leslie Beauregard of Hollywood, Md.; Barbara Gourd-Shaw and husband, Henry of Muldrow, Okla.; nine grandchildren, Jarek and Miranda Pulliam of Alma, Ark.; Katherine, Kailtin and Nicolas Rodrguez of Dallas, Texas; Monica and Sabrina Beauregard of Hollywood, Md.; Dustin Shaw of Fort Smith, Ark.; and Kali Shaw of Muldrow, Okla.; two-great grandchildren, Morgan and James Shaw of Fort Smith, Ark.; two sisters, Betty Luter of Clinton, S.C.; and Peggy Walker of Weiner, Ark.; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 18, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church in Lewisville, Ark., with Rev. Ron Eldridge, Rev. Mark Lasater, and Rev. C.E. McAdoo, D.S. officiating under the direction of Smith Funeral Homes of Stamps, Ark. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Friday, February 17, 2012, at the Smith Funeral Home in Stamps, Ark. Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers are members of the Lewisville Lion's Club.
