Allen Drennan

Allen James Drennan, age 95, of Benton, died on Feb. 25, 2012. He was born on Nov. 3, 1916 to the late Prudie and James Alec Drennan in Reform, Ark. Allen was the co-owner of Napa Auto Parts of Benton, formerly Quality Auto Parts, when he retired. He served his country during World War II and the Korean War, earning a Bronze Star for Bravery. His greatest service in life was to his Lord. He lived his life every day as a Christian and brought hundreds of others to Him. Allen was a member of the Northside Church of Christ in Benton. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and step-mother, Marie Drennan; brothers, Amar, Hollis and Jewels Drennan; and sisters, Lois Belcher and Kathleen Liles. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Lucille Miller Drennan; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Loretta Drennan of Benton; daughter, Jane Shepard of Sardis; grandchildren, Ray Kesterson and wife April of Hot Springs, DeOnna Wyllia of Benton, Ricky Thornberry of Asher, Okla., Staci Duck of Benton and great-grandchildren, Tyler Douglas, Shayla Wyllia, Alex Wyllia, Morgan Mayberry, Trey Craddock, Gavin Thornberry and Brian Kesterson. He is also survived by sisters, Neva Jane Ross, Mary Ann Erwin, Aileene Parks, Edith Roberson and Linda McInturff; brothers, Jimmy, Charles and Dwight Drennan. Other surviving grandchildren include Mandy and Crystal Drennan and several other great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, many whom he took to school their first day. Pallbearers will be Ray Kesterson, Don Kesterson, Larry Drennan, Tyler Douglas, Kurt Jansen and Ricky Thornberry. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27 at Ashby Funeral Home. A full military graveside funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29 at Pine Crest Memorial Park with Jim Gardner and Joel Lewis officiating.
