Jimmy "Jim" Stephenson

Jimmy "Jim" Stephenson, age 65, of Crossett, Ark. passed away on February 26, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 8, 1946 in Searcy, Ark. to his parents, D.L. and Gladys Byers Stephenson. After college graduation, he served in the National Guard for six years. He was an Environmental Chemist at Dow Chemical in Freeport, Texas for eight years before returning to Crossett to start his sporting goods business. He was the owner and operator of Sport About for 32 years. Jim was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish. He loved his children and grandchildren and loved cooking for his family. Jim was a member of South Main Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Joye Stephenson of Crossett, AR; three daughters, Julie Bridges (Robby) of Crossett, Ark., Janel Walker (Jeff) of Tomball, Texas, Jenna Meeks of West Monroe, La.; his mother, Gladys Stephenson of Crossett, Ark.; brothers, Danny Stephenson of Georgetown, Ark., Ernie Stephenson of Crossett, Ark.; sister, Peggy Walters of Crossett, Ark.; brother-in-law, Glynn Stephenson (Dianne) of Canton, Texas; sister-in-law, Anne Pierce of Little Rock, Ark.; mother-in-law, Audrey Stephenson of Crossett, Ark. and seven grandchildren, Taylor Meeks, Luke Bridges, Shayn Walker, Cameron Bridges, Kaedon Walker, Zoe and Allie Meeks. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at South Main Baptist Church with Bro. Jerry Grant and Bro. Lyle Hern officiating. Interment will follow at Lacey Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett, Ark.
