Galina Susan Fecher died at her home in Portland, Oregon on Friday, 6 July at the age of 36. Galina was born on April 29, 1976 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Glenna Jeanne Fecher and Dennis Randall Fecher, with older brother Dennis Randall Spalding-Fecher. She graduated from Southside High School, from Portland State University in Fine Arts, specializing in Drawing and Printmaking, and from the International Centre for Photography in New York. She was a passionate and creative photographer, and worked with a world renowned photographer in New York. Her project with Zefrey Throwell has recently been acquired by the Museum of Modern Art in New York. She is survived by her mother, (Glenna), her brother and sister-in-law, (Randall & Amy), her nieces, (Maya and Grace), her grandfather, (Glenn Chester Gorbet), her aunts, (Pamela A. Kuhn, Evelyn E Ward, and Dawn Marie Fecher) and uncles, (Richard W Kuhn, Douglas S Ward, Duane E Fecher and Ben Lee Bates), numerous cousins, and countless friends from the East Coast to the West Coast and beyond. She was preceded in death by her father, (Dennis), her dog, (Lazlo), her aunt, (Gelene E Bates), her grandmothers, (Jessie Berry Gorbet and Geneva Anita Fecher ) and her other grandfather, (William Edwin Fecher). Galina's life will be celebrated at Goddard United Methodist Church, 1922 Dodson Avenue, Fort Smith, Ark. at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 14. A reception will follow at 4:30 p.m. at the Movie Lounge, 7601 Rogers Avenue, Fort Smith, Ark. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Notice of a Portland memorial will be posted later. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorials to be sent to the Sebastian County Animal Shelter, Gateway House (3900 North Armour Avenue, Fort Smith), or the Reynolds Cancer Support House.
