MACK GLENN PHARR, 92, of North Little Rock, passed away July 26, 2012. He was born on Feb. 16, 1920, in Rule, Texas, to the late Robert and Zola Pharr. Mr. Pharr retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1981 and proudly served his country in the Army during World War II. He attended Southern Bible Vocational College in Rising Star, Texas. He was an active member of the First Pentecostal Church in North Little Rock, Ark. He lived in North Little Rock, Ark. for over 50 years and will be remembered as a man that was always willing to help others. Many people in the community referred to him as "The Peanut Man." He earned this nickname because he supplied many churches in the area and state with peanuts for peanut brittle. His recipe for peanut brittle and pecan brittle is still frequently requested. Mr. Pharr enjoyed gospel singing and his strong bass voice could be heard many times at the Hayes Center Gospel Hour. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 60 years, Imogene; three sisters and two brothers; and one son, Mark Evans Pharr. He is survived by his wife, Lillian; one son, Dennis G. Pharr (Ann) of Siloam Springs; two daughters, Diane Harden (Hal) of Little Rock, and Anna Kay Tilton (Jack) of Texas; grandsons, Mark Pharr (Debbie) of North Little Rock, Mack Pharr (Melinda) of Conway, Brian Choate (Andria) of Nevada; granddaughters, Mischelle (Don) Berrier of Illinois, Sarah Blakley (Jeremiah), of North Little Rock, Hannah Freeman (Matt), of Guy, Sharon (Scott) Soares of Missouri; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Georgia Mary Curtis of Texas, and Joyce Luebbe (Lloyd) of Nebraska; many nieces and nephews; and devoted friend and caregiver, Cindy Boshears. Many special thanks to his neighbors, church family, caregivers, and the hospital staff who watched over him. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday at the First Pentecostal Church in North Little Rock. Burial will be at Riverwood Memorial Gardens in Maumelle. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday at the church. Arrangements by North Little Rock Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 758-1170.
